cmpdrx.netbiz.com Order from Our Advanced Compounding Pharmacy in Los Angeles Forest Laboratories, Inc., the maker of the widely used hormone therapy drug, Armour® Thyroid, recently announced it has placed the medication on back order. The company said on its website that it does not have enough of the active ingredient, Powdered Thyroid Gland, in stock to produce the medication. This is going to have a profound effect on a lot of people who rely on this hormone replacement therapy. According to Forest Laboratories, Armour® Thyroid is considered a natural hormone replacement therapy because the thyroid glands are collected from USDA-approved grain-fed pigs. The thyroids are processed, dried, powdered, and compounded to produce Armour® Thyroid tablets. Since the amount of thyroid hormone present in the thyroid gland may vary from animal to animal, the T4 and T3 are measured in both the raw material and in the actual tablets. This ensures that Armour® Thyroid tablets are consistent from tablet to tablet. The good news is that Advanced Compounding Pharmacy has a large supply of maximum strength Armour® Thyroid in stock. We can compound to any prescription. We can even compound it down to reduced strength if necessary. Millions of Americans require treatment for hypothyroidism (low thyroid activity). Armour® Thyroid is a type of hormone replacement therapy that differs from other therapies. It is not a synthetic compound and it provides both of the key thyroid hormones

This bizarre film is hosted by an unnamed “psychologist.” While spouting Pavlovian claptrap such as “Fear is triggered by loud noises” and “Your emotions can be your own greatest enemy,” he repeatedly interrupts the story of “Jeff,” the film’s protagonist. Jeff — who looks like a heroin addict — has a lot of trouble controlling his emotions, and the psychologist is always ready to pop in with statements such as “If this kind of behavior is repeated often, it might lead to a permanently warped personality.” The original script, on file at the Library of Congress, offers interesting insight into the means by which the film was supposed to work. Most revealing are the character descriptions: “JEFF. About 17. Heavy part. (SYNC) Quick, vivid temper. Hyper-thyroid type, perhaps. Must show rage in face – see script in detail. Should look tall and strong. “ROGER. Perhaps 10-12. Must show fear – heavy, sobbing fear. Playful, mischievous. (SYNC). “MOTHER. 35-40. Must be a little woman to contrast in size with JEFF. On her face we must see fear, anger, and affection. (SYNC) “JOAN. 13-14, Slightly ‘brattish’ adolescent. Capable of exuberant enthusiasm. Not a major part. (SYNC) “DOCTOR. 40-50, pleasant, narrator type – speaks to camera – white coat.” Producer: Coronet Instructional Films

Adjust your Thyroid Hormone Production with Synthroid

Adjust your Thyroid Hormone Production with Synthroid

Synthroid is a drug taken by millions of people requiring adjustment to their thyroid hormone production. The hormones produced by the thyroid glands are responsible for the regulation of the body’s metabolism. The thyroid hormone production van be too much, or too little.

“How does Synthroid work?”
Synthroid is a synthetic hormone, which takes the place of the naturally thyroid gland produced hormone. The thyroid gland is necessary because it converts iodine, which is in a large number of foods, into thyroid hormones known as thyroxine and triiodothyronine. Since the thyroid is the only gland with the capability of regulating (balancing) the cellular metabolism of the body, Synthroid plays an indispensable role in maintaining body health.

”When will a generic be available for Synthroid?”
Generic forms of Synthroid are available, but are generally not recommended by physicians, nor patients requiring Synthroid. The main complaint by patients is that the generic drug(s) are not as effective as Synthroid.

“How do I use Synthroid?”
Synthroid controls every organ in your body, and one must be taken every morning, with a full glass of water.

“How to buy a generic for Synthroid?”
Generics can be requested from your pharmacy; however, you should question your pharmacist concerning the efficacy of the generic as compared to Synthroid. One form of the generic from one drug manufacture may not be the same as from another, so the major problem is drug quality – is it the same as Synthroid.

“Does Synthroid help with Thyroid Disease?”
Synthroid is helpful with some thyroid problems. Your physician will be able to advise you.

“How to save money on Synthroid?”
Synthroid is a very highly effective drug, while at the same time, it is a very affordable, low cost drug.

“Is Synthroid the same as Levothyroxine Sodium?”
Levothyroxine is the generic name for Synthroid. Once again, it is important to understand that all generics are not created equal. The generic may contain what is know as a bioequivalent for Levothyroxine, and the resulting use of that specific generic may not yield the results for which you have the prescription.

“Where can I get information on how to use Synthroid?”
Information is available online, from your pharmacist and/or doctor. You will also find easy to understand information at TheDrugCompany.com.

“How many people are taking Synthroid?”
Synthroid is the most asked for thyroid hormone replacement drug on the market, taken by millions of patients.

“Is cheap Synthroid available in countries other than the US?”
This is a difficult question to answer, since pricing varies all over the board; however, since Synthroid has been very affordable here in the United States, and there is no question about the quality of the product, the best pricing is in the US. For full information on Synthroid, and the best prices available, For full information on Synthroid, as well as the best pricing, visit TheDrugCompany.com, or call The Drug Company Toll Free at 1-888-254-3038

Thyroid Hormone Controls Our Metabolisms

Thyroid Hormone Controls Our Metabolisms

When your thyroid is functioning well and producing thyroid hormone (TH) your have energy and feel young and strong.

This process is controlled by the hypothalamus, another gland which regulates the body’s hormones and their activities. When it detects low blood levels of TH, it release thyroid releasing hormone (TRH). This signals the pituitary gland to release thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). TSH kicks the thyroid into gear to make more TH.

Two situations can interfere with this process. If the thyroid gland itself lacks iodine, it swells up (known as a goiter), or has a tumor, it can’t produce enough TH. This is primary hypothyroidism.

When the hypothalamus or pituitary glands aren’t functioning properly, the thyroid gland doesn’t receive the TSH signal it needs. This is secondary hypothyroidism.

The list of symptoms of hypothyroidism reads like a list of the symptoms of aging: fatigue, weakness, lowered immune system, heavy breathing, muscle cramps, persistent lower back pain, mental sluggishness, headaches, emotional instability, poor circulation, loss of appetite, stiff joints, reduced libido, increase in artherosclerosis, and increase in the heart’s inability to pump properly.

Because TH governs your body’s metabolism, hypothyroidism makes it easy to gain weight and difficult to lose it. Low TH levels are also associated with diabetes, because it’s essential to the body to maintain healthy levels of blood sugar. Low TH is linked to increased risk of heart disease and developing cancer.

Low thyroid functioning can be caused by nutritional deficiencies, and also: pollutants such as fluoride in water, barbituates, certain antidiabetic medications, prednisone, supplemental estrogen, some cough medicines, Cordarone, Lithium, painkillers that contain salicylates, oil of wintergreen and cigarette smoke (another reason to quit).

TH supplementation is available by prescription, but first try eliminating the above causes from your life and taking thyroid-healthy nutrients: Vitamin A and beta carotene, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, sea kelp, the amino acid Tyrosine, unsaturated fatty acids and zinc.

Don’t think of hypothyroidism — or the problems of aging — as an inevitable part of living longer.

Next, discover the easiest way to keep emergency preparedness kits and an Emergency Food Supply stored in your home and car in case of disasters.

Fate of Iodine in Thyroid Hormone Formation – Why Iodine is Necessary For Thyroid Hormone Formation

Fate of Iodine in Thyroid Hormone Formation – Why Iodine is Necessary For Thyroid Hormone Formation

To form sufficient quantities of the thyroid hormone thyroxine or T4, about 50 milligrams of iodine in the form of iodides in the diet is required every year. This just shows how important iodine is in the process of thyroid hormone formation and consequently, the regulation of the body’s metabolism.
Iodides in the Diet

The iodides available in your food are absorbed in the gastrointestinal in much the same way as chlorides. These are then normally rid of by the kidneys through the urine but not before the thyroid gland gets its share of iodides. This share constitutes about a fifth of the whole amount of ingested iodide.

Iodide Trapping

The first step in thyroid hormone formation is the acquisition of iodide by the thyroid gland by a mechanism known as iodide trapping. The basal membrane of the thyroid cell is specifically designed to pump iodides actively into the cell. In a normal gland, the pump has the ability to concentrate the iodide to 30 times the concentration of iodides in the blood and in a hyperactive gland, this shoots up to about 250 times more. The iodide pump is regulated by several factors but mainly by the concentration of thyroid-stimulating hormone or TSH.

TSH is a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland to regulate thyroid gland activity. Aside from increasing the rate of iodide trapping by the pumps, it also stimulates the thyroid gland to produce and secrete more thyroid hormone. When concentrations of thyroid hormone reach desirable levels and normal metabolic rates are achieved, the TSH levels go down until such time the pituitary gland receives a signal to secrete more hormone.

Thyroglobulin, Thyroxine, and Triiodothyronine

The thyroid cells are protein-secreting cells and one of their major products is thyroglobulin. Thyroglobulin is a large glycoprotein molecule with a molecular weight of around 335,000. Each molecule of thyroglobulin contains around 70 amino acids called tyrosine, the major substrate that combines with iodine to form the thyroid hormones. Basically, the thyroid hormones are formed inside the thyroglobulin.

The first essential step in the formation of thyroid hormone is the oxidation of iodide ions to nascent iodine capable of combining with tyrosine. This process is promoted by the enzyme peroxidase and its accompanying hydrogen peroxide.

The next step is the organification of iodine or the binding of iodine with the thyroglobulin molecule. Even in its oxidized form, iodine binds quite slowly to tyrosine. In the thyroid cell, however, iodine is associated with aniodinase enzyme which speeds up the organification to a matter of seconds or minutes.

Tyrosine is first iodized to monoiodotyrosine and then to diiodotyrosine. The iodotyrosine formed then couple with one another to form thyroid hormones. A coupling between monoiodotyrosine and diiodotyrosine yieldstriiodothyronine and a coupling between two molecules of diiodotyrosine will form thyroxine, which is the major hormonal product of the thyroid gland.

The intricate process of thyroid hormone formation is also unique among endocrine systems in that the thyroid gland stores its hormones in follicles until such time when TSH stimulation causes the thyroid gland to release the hormones and speed up the iodide trapping process. And the cycle starts all over again.

Role of Thyroid Hormone to Fight Obesity

Hypothyroidism is one of the very common problems associated with persons with dysfunctioning thyroid gland. Hypothyroidism may be defined as the insufficient amount of thyroid hormone production. This state is called as hypothyroidism. Similarly, excess secretion of this hormone may be defined as hyper thyroidism. However, as far as obesity problem is concerned, the credit goes to hypothyroidism only. Hyper thyroidism produces another severe case called the goitre. This topic is not of interest in this article. Here in this article we are going to discuss about the hypothyroidism and its effects on obesity.

The under activity of thyroid hormone shows various symptoms like hairloss, fatigue, forgetfulness, unhealthy nails and dryness of the skin. These are the normal symptoms however other diseases might also have the same kind of symptoms and it should not be confused with thyroid problems. For clear result, it is better to do thyroid tests before taking any kind of steps to get rid of these symptoms. The major symptom or can even be called as the side effect of hypothyroidism is obesity and obesity related problems.

As we all know that the thyroid hormone is required for easing the metabolic rate of the body, under activity of this hormone can cause less fat to be burnt or it may even result in the absence of fat burn. As a result of this more and more fats get deposited under the skin as fat layers. The fats have a greater tendency to accumulate fast by adhering to each other ghastly. So, one can become obese at a faster rate.

To overcome this defect, the affected individual should intake sufficient amount of iodine in their diet. However the iodine amount taken in has to be monitored properly in order to avoid excess in take of iodine which is also harmful for the body. Correct amount can trigger the exact amount of thyroid secretion and hence a complete and proper body metabolism.

The common source of iodine is iodised table salts. However sea fishes are also good sources of iodine. In addition these days iodine supplements have also by the doctors. It is a better way as the amount iodine consumed can be monitored appropriately.

No over dosages so, no highlighted problems. Consumption of fibres also is an important factor to loose weight. Proper fibre content along with the iodine supplement can enhance in the weight reduction easily. In a nut shell, as all the dietician says a good exercise along with the proper nutrition and mental harmony can help to reach the expected weight loss.

In addition when the problem still persists long even after the administration of iodine supplements, then the proper medical professional has to be contacted at the earliest. It can truly solve any kind of problems related to weight loss or weight gain easily with out the fea of side effects any longer.
