It is estimated that up to 80% of women who are suffering from Hypothyroid do not have a thyroid problem at all. They are suffering from a condition called Hashimotos disease. Melissa is such a case. Symptoms of Hypothyroidism – The Under-Active Thyroid Disease

The symptoms of Hypothyroidism are extensive and can be very unpleasant to live with. The main issue with the disease is that it is progressive, the symptoms change and increase in severity over a long period of time. Persons suffering with the illness not only suffer physical problems, but these also lead to mental issues such as Depression.

The disease is caused by the thyroid gland not being able to produce enough of the needed thyroid hormone. Essentially this slows down the body’s metabolism which leads to major symptoms. The most common, noticeable symptom is weight gain; though the list is extensive as the early stages are almost unnoticeable. To name a few of the most common:

feeling tired and sleeping a lot
feeling the cold easily
dry and/or pale skin
coarse, thinning hair and brittle nails

These are just a few of the symptoms caused by the disease. You may notice swelling of your thyroid gland. If you are suffering from any of the above you may need to find out more information to see if you have any of the other major symptoms, and I would suggest visiting your GP.

The problem with Hypothyroidism is that it involves so many different symptoms that are generally an illness in themselves. You probably do not suffer from the majority of the symptoms of the disease and would benefit from dealing with each individual one separately. For example “Fatigue” There are treatments and methods available to help with this element alone!

If you think you may have symptoms of hypothyroidism I would suggest looking into things in more detail. I have started a blog specifically for this disease to try help those in your situation find the correct course of action. A more extensive list of hypothyroidism symptoms is available at: http://www.talkhypothyroidism.info/

Hypothyroidism Symptoms How Under-Active Thyroid Effects Your Health

Hypothyroidism symptoms can be very unpleasant to live with and progress over a stretch of time, meaning the symptoms can become worse and change over a long period. Mental issues such as depression are common with Hypothyroidism leading on from the physical effects which cause mental torture.

The thyroid gland is unable to produce enough of the thyroid hormone, slowing down your body”s metabolism thus leading to major symptoms. Commonly and most noticeable of all the symptoms of Hypothyroidism is the rapid gaining of weight. The list of possible symptoms is extensive, but not every one effects every sufferer; everybody is different.

coarse, thinning hair and brittle nails
dry and/or pale skin
feeling the cold easily
feeling tired and sleeping a lot

The above are only a few of the symptoms of Hypothyroidism. Also commonly noticeable is the swelling of your thyroid gland. If you believe you are suffering from any, or even more, of the above symptoms I suggest you look into things in more detail and visit your doctor.

The biggest issue with the disease is the fact that it has so many different symptoms that usually are an illness on their own. You will most likely not suffer from the majority of the symptoms and would benefit from working on each individual one you personally have. Take for example having dry or pale skin, there are natural remedies available that will help to elevate such symptoms. Also things like fatigue have methods available. I will be discussing all the major symptoms on my blog including links and information on treatments and cures for each individual one.

The hypothyroidism symptoms can become very serious and if you think you may have one or more my suggestion is reading in a lot more detail. More information on all the symptoms is available here: http://www.talkhypothyroidism.info

Diet Plans For Underactive Thyroid

“The history of diet plan dated from the moment that the first monkey evoluted to be a lady”. My confidant jessica always says so. Wow, you may get the point. Just as what she says, her “process of becoming beauty” turns out to be a long long road like the human being evolution history.
When we were sophomore, I had to catch her back to our dormitory from square, because this guy actually asked me such questions, “wil, why are there so much candy floating on ground? Are they sweety? Could I have them?”. Well, you couldn’t eat them until you became transformer. I told myself. What could I do? The only thing was to buy real candy and huge hamburgs feeding this extreme hungry girl having no food for three days!
Then the next time, I saved her life from endless jogging and aerobic training. After that, jessica experiences differential “keep-fit” programs, and I go through kinds of rescue stories.
The only result I get from jessica’s lession is that losing weight is really really hard, and beauty is cruel. I comfort myselt that it is not bad to be Ugly Betty, at least I could be safe and I am alive.
Yet one day, jessica turns up again, glamorously and brightly. No baby fat, no laziness, but body tight and healthy!
I even couldn’t believe my eyes. What have you met? A generous orthopedic surgeon?
She smiles mysteriously, and gives me the data. What is it? I read it with suspicion at first. Yet during the process of reading, I am really convinced of by Isabel De Rios. Yes, that is the truth of beauty—no harm for health, and be energetic.
Then I do some detailed study on The Diet Solution Program, Isabel De Rios’ theory. I find that two new viewpoints bright Diet Solution Program.
The first is that you are what you eat. Of course we eat everyday, and acquire energy from food. Yet maybe people don’t know that some food are good—nutritional for them; some food are bad—harmful for them. The Diet Solution Program tells people how to choose food, and what and when to eat.
The second is to free people’s nature, so they could design their own diet plans on different circumstances. It means that people will not obey strict rules, for example people could only have one apple a day, or the calories is less than 100. Otherwise the diet plan would be failed!
To be frank, I have never met such easy and useful the diet solution program. Only a few days later. I feel the whole body is full of energy, the fat disappears, even the pores on face is smaller.
What a magic program! You could read the ebook here , and another beautiful one for yourself.

Could An Underactive Thyroid Be Causing You To Gain Weight?

Could An Underactive Thyroid Be Causing You To Gain Weight?

Supposedly 1% of slimmers across the globe are reported to be impacted by hypothyroidism, an underactive thyroid that can contribute to a metabolic slow down, weight gain, loss of concentration, depression and ineffective digestion.

What is hypothyroidism?

Affected by pregnancy or anxiety, hypothyroidism can affect you at any period in your lifetime, not withstanding common misconceptions that it only appears in your fifties. Linked to an enlargement of your thyroid; the body’s immune system is reported to supply antibodies against the gland that causes you to emit fewer essential hormones that can compel you to experience the above health problems…

However you don’t have to allow this condition to control your weight loss. As long as you eat sensibly, workout often and regularly check in with your doctor you can lose weight and get this condition under control.

How can I lose weight?

One of the main signs of having hypothyroidism is a slow metabolism and a tendency to experience extra body fat that is difficult to shed.

If this summary sounds like you and you are concerned that you are suffering from hypothyroidism, there are a numerous tips you can try to help you to witness lasting weight loss:

Tip one

Workout on a day to day basis – if you don’t have time to attend the gym, go to a cardio class or meet with an instructor, simply going for a 45 minute walk every day can help you to boost your metabolism and trigger quality weight loss.

Try to alternate between slow and brisk walking every 5-10 minutes, as well as moving your arms. This will increase the intensity of your workout and speed up your fat burn.

Another useful strategy is to fasten weights to your body to make your body perform stronger.

Tip two

Choose your foods sensibly – foods fortified in iodine are reputed for interfering with your thyroid gland. The key dishes to avoid/minimise include cabbage, kale, broccoli, mustard, linseed, sweet potato, peanuts and soy meals.

Tip three

Exclude foods reputed for containing stimulants – any kind of stimulant whether it is a fluid such as coffee, or cola, or oral experience such as smoking or alcoholic drinks can affect your thyroid and ultimately your body weight, so reduce these out of your weight loss management plan and keep them to as small as possible

Try a dietary pill – adding a natural fat binder such as Proactol into your weight loss plan can help to relieve the pressure off monitoring your thyroid problem and body weight.

Clinically proven to bind up to 28 percent of your fat consumption, Proactol can help to reduce the effects of an underactive thyroid on your well-being, improve your calorie burn and supply you the energy you need to take part in daily workouts and experience weight loss.

Underactive Thyroid and Weight Loss

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism over a year ago! Since then I have done a lot of research on the subject to see what causes hypothyroidism, what the symptoms are and what can or can`t be done to treat it. Hypothyroidism is a lack of thyroid hormone in the body. Thyroid hormone, which controls metabolism, is an important part of many of the body’s functions including growth and development. Hypothyroidism is thought to be very common and is estimated to affect nearly 10 million Americans and 1 out of every 10 women. The most common cause is inflammation of the thyroid gland due to autoimmune disease. A blood test is required to confirm the problem of an underactive thyroid gland. But the cause of hypothyroidism will remain still unknown. Thyroid scans and the results of antibody screening tests help to determine the underlying cause of the thyroid.

Hyperthyroid grows gradually but one can observe its symptoms suddenly which include severe muscle cramps in the arms, neck, legs, back and shoulders, mental sluggishness, hoarseness, swollen facial features and also enlarged tongue. On Monday morning, I camped in my doctor’s office until I could be seen. I was told that the most common cause of “Unilateral Propotosis” (bulging eye) is Graves Disease, Thyroid Eye Disease, tumors or bleeding. The preliminary diagnosis was Graves Disease. My doctor gave me a referral to an Endocrinologist and an Optician for my eyes. One of the biggest problems people who are dealing with a hormone imbalance struggle with is weight gain. The best way to make sure their weight stays manageable the person is going to have to make sure they are eating less trans fats and more natural foods. The symptoms I was experiencing with my hypothyroidism were things like depression, low sex drive, weight gain (which compounded my existing weight issues), puffy face and eyelids, really bad PMS (my poor husband), constipation and my skin was crazy itchy and dry.

The thyroid treatments available today, require taking prescription drugs containing chemicals. You have to take these drugs everyday to stimulate your thyroid gland. However, chemicals always have side effects and you will become too much dependent on them to run your day. Iodine deficiency is one of the main causes of hypothyroidism, so inclusion of sea vegetables especially bladder wrack helps in raising the levels of thyroid hormones. Kelp seaweed is rich in iodine and antioxidants that helps in proper functioning of the gland. Hyperthyroidism is the condition of the body that results due to the over activity of the thyroid gland. Hyper activity of the thyroid produces excess of thyroid hormones that affects the tissues of the body in many ways. This over production of the thyroid hormones leads in an increased metabolism of the body There are several things a person can do to help them cope with hypothyroidism. The first thing they should do is schedule an appointment with their personal physician. The doctor will run some tests and make sure that the side effects are actually do to hormonal imbalance and not the result of different health problem.

Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid) – Herbal Remedies, Symptoms and Causes

Hypothyroidism results due to the under performance of the thyroid gland resulting in the reduced production of the hormone Thyroxin. Thyroxin is responsible for the various metabolic activities and the under production of this hormone results in several discomforts of the body. Most people remain in total darkness regarding the under performance of the thyroid gland.

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism are not that singular that may help in confirming the under activity of the thyroid gland. But careful observations of few symptoms can help to affirm hypothyroidism. These include fatigue and tiredness, menstrual disorders, heart palpitations, thrush, poor concentration, dry and brittle hair resulting in hair fall, pains in muscles and joints, abnormal weight gain and many more. Sometimes there is a swelling in the neck or larynx and the condition is called Goitre. Hypothyroidism can be diagnosed by testing the levels of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), T3 and T4 hormones and their interactions.

Causes

1. Deficiency of Iodine is the main cause of hypothyroidism.

2. Hashimoto’s disease is an auto immune disease that affects the thyroid gland resulting in low production of hormones.

3. Due to any surgery performed on the thyroid gland the functioning of the gland is reduced.

4. Sometimes treatment of hyperthyroidism also reduces the level of thyroid hormones to a great extent below the normal.

5. Inflammation of the thyroid gland or Thyroiditis can reduce the functioning of the thyroid gland.

6. Underperformance of the pituitary gland also leads to hypothyroidism.

Herbal Remedies

1. Iodine deficiency is one of the main causes of hypothyroidism, so inclusion of sea vegetables especially bladder wrack helps in raising the levels of thyroid hormones. Kelp seaweed is rich in iodine and antioxidants that helps in proper functioning of the thyroid gland.

2. Spirulina is advised by some naturopaths to treat Hypothyroidism.

3. Irish moss as suggested by the herbalists nourishes the thyroid gland that aids in its normal functioning.

4. For women the herb Black Cohosh helps to maintain the estrogen levels and is beneficial in hypothyroidism.

5. The herb Guggul is renowned for stimulating thyroid gland but proper consultation with the health experts are required before administering the extracts of this herb.

6. The fresh tincture of the herb Gotu kola is highly beneficial as it regulates the thyroid hormones and also the nervous system of the body.

7. The use of Siberian Ginseng in treating hypothyroidism gives good results as it regulates the hormone levels by assisting in functioning of the adrenal and the thymus glands.

Foods rich in trace elements like calcium, manganese, copper, neodymium, terbium helps the thyroid gland for smooth metabolism that helps in reducing hypothyroidism.

Underactive Thyroid Disease Can Be Reversed By Dieting

Underactive Thyroid Disease Can Be Reversed By Dieting

I bet you didn’t know that underactive thyroid disease (hypothyroid) in most cases is reversible? It’s true, and the best of all is you don’t actually have to take any drugs to reverse the problem.

It is always advisable to consult your doctor before you try any alternative remedies and most of them will be open to natural methods before prescribing any drugs. If they are simply not open to these alternatives I would consider changing your doctor!

There are some common symptoms that come with hypothyroid. Some of the most common are depression, extreme weight gain, fatigue, short term memory loss, body aches and pains and skin problems (including dryness and itchiness).

A natural solution to your thyroid problem simply is your diet. Everything you need is in the local grocery or supermarket…right on your doorstep!

Just like any diet plan there are foods that will help your situation, and foods to avoid that will just make things worse. The foods you need to be eating should be high in vitamins and minerals and those that provide you with a lot of energy. This will increase your metabolism, the reverse of underactive thyroid disease, and naturally burn fat and lose weight.

You need to remember that weight loss, no matter who you are or what your situation, requires dedication. You need to stick to your chosen diet plan and exercise regular.

So what are the main types of food you should be eating? Lets take a look at 4 of the main food types:

Coconut foods and oils
Seaweed and herbs
Fruits and Vegetables
Healthy fat, such as butter, flax seeds and salmon.

One of the most important things to remember is not to reduce your carbohydrates intake by too much. Even for people without hypothyroid reducing your carbs to a silly degree, like some diet plans do, is just not healthy. For you this will create the completely opposite effect and reduce your thyroid hormone production even more than it already is. Basically this means your metabolism is going to slow down even more and you will gain weight!

Your body is very capable of healing itself if you give it a fighting chance. If your following a good diet, of the right foods and nutrition, and getting regular exercise you will naturally find the problem fixing itself.

Can you imagine how you will feel a few days from starting on your new diet? You will feel much better in yourself, you will probably sleep better and be a lot more restful. Surely you will no longer feel depressed when you see results. This is possible when you have the right information.

The main hurdle you face to begin with is selecting the right diet plan. There are so many options available online it’s hard to chose. You need to be sure your spending your hard earned money on something that is going to work.

If you wish to try some diet pills to accompany your diet I suggest only sticking to proven, pure and natural weight loss pills. One of the purest and most popular pills are based on Hoodia Gordonii. I have reviewed this kind of diet supplement here: Are Hoodia Weight Loss Pills Effective For Appetite Suppression?

Herbal diet pills work very well along side a healthy and nutritious diet plan. I found a great web page that describes in detail the best way to diet when you have underactive thyroid disease. You can read more here: http://www.The-Natural-Thyroid-Diet.com

Have A Underactive Thyroid Gland? Here Is How To Lose Weight

Many people suffer with an underactive thyroid gland. For you that have this medical condition controlling your weight is extremely difficult and is a frightening prospect. I imagine your feeling quite low with your weight and lost as to where to find a solution. If you think you have or have been diagnosed with this condition losing weight is going to be difficult, but not impossible!

The medical name for your condition is Hypothyroidism.

What Are The Symptoms Of Hypothyroidism?

There are varying symptoms that show an under-active thyroid gland including Fatigue, Short Term Memory Loss, Body Aches and Pains and even Skin Problems. These are a result of your thyroid gland not producing enough of the thyroid hormone (thyroxine), therefore your metabolism is significantly slower than usual. These symptoms reduce motivation for exercise and you begin to put on weight.

Just so you know it’s not your fault. Hypothyroidism can affect anyone at any point in their life. The disease causes your immune system to believe the thyroid gland is a foreign body and creates the necessary antibodies to destroy the gland. This in turn stops the thyroid gland from producing the correct levels of thyroxine which is ultimately essential for keeping your metabolism running properly.

So How Am I Going To Lose Weight?

Generally the same way you lose weight with a normal thyroid gland applies to you as well. Eating a healthy and balanced diet and get some regular exercise. You will be able to control the weight gain if you stick to these rules. Obviously you need to follow a diet plan that fits with your condition.

There are a few important things to remember when trying to regulate your thyroid gland and ultimately lose weight:

The first and most important thing to remember is to seek help from your doctor and make sure you take your medication at the right times and the right levels.
You need to be following a healthy diet plan making sure you eat enough healthy fats, fruit and vegetables and things like coconut, seaweed and herbs.
You should not try to drastically reduce carbohydrates. Carbs are extremely important for the production of the thyroid hormone.

You should avoid any products that act as a fat burner or contain caffeine. If you are wanting to try diet pills you should focus on products that are 100% natural and safe diet pills or supplements. If you don’t select the right supplements they can aggravate your hypothyroidism even more!

I understand you are having a hard time losing weight, but beyond common belief there is something you can do to help.

Following a healthy diet plan you can regulate your underactive thyroid gland.

Have a read of the following web page which talks about a healthy diet plan created specifically for your condition: www.The-Natural-Thyroid-Diet.com

Underactive thyroid 101: Some Convenient Information for Those Who May perhaps Believe They Might Have It

Just to present you a short summary of what an underactive thyroid is; it is a condition in which your thyroid glands don’t create the right quantities of main hormones that affect virtually every other vital part of your body.  This results in many problems; nearly everyone of these issues are believed to be other things until you decide to go to your doctor to learn the true basis for some of your symptoms.

What does the disorder effect?

An underactive thyroid may impact a few  parts of your anatomy up to and including your heart, your brain, your digestive tract, and your skin. If you evidence any type of problem related to the organs I just discussed then you might have an underactive thyroid. From time to time people who have problems related to their heart, the digestive tract, and the skin, assume that it is something else completely not linked to what it really is.

What this means is that perhaps millions of Americans are walking around right now suffering from problems that are linked to an underactive thyroid and they don’t have any idea about what’s really going on inside of them. This is why it is essential to go to your doctor on a frequent basis to get looked at for such things. There are a lot of people in the population currently who have never even heard of an underactive thyroid.

Unawareness is not bliss

If you feel you may be suffering from an underactive thyroid, I would propose you take every step to get your condition treated.. It has been anticipated that approximately 50% of all people who have an underactive thyroid do not even know that it is treatable.. This is why it is essential for you to go to a doctor so that you are able to get the condition diagnosed and properly treated. Only a general practitioner will be skilled to accurately diagnose your underactive thyroid condition.

If you can discover it early you may be able to lead a normal and active life without too much interference from this condition. If you choose to take no notice of  the condition you may find that your symptoms get worse over time and increasingly become unbearable. This is because you will believe that your symptoms are related to other conditions.

Does it come with aging?

It has been recognized to be one of the side effects to aging or what some would label hypochondria. But it is usually not a true side effect of aging, there are other fundamental reasons why people develop underactive thyroids. However whatever the basis, it is essential that you discover it early, because if you don’t it will fuel your risk of heart disease by causing elevated blood pressure and high cholesterol levels.

So if you think you may perhaps be suffering from an underactive thyroid, it may be a good indication to look into it.

Underactive Thyroid Treatment ? What Are My Options?

This article will discuss underactive Thyroid treatment options and whether it is best to go with conventional or alternative methods. I’ll also explain what an underactive Thyroid is and what some of the causes are. Always discuss any treatments you may be considering with your doctor or health care provider beforehand.

The Thyroid gland is located in the neck and its purpose is to produce a range of hormones which regulate our growth and metabolism. In some people the Thyroid can become sluggish and not enough Thyroid hormones are produced for the body to function correctly and we might suffer from symptoms such as low body temperature, dizziness, constipation and extreme tiredness. We call this condition Hypothyroidism which basically means an underactive Thyroid gland.

There are probably many, many causes for this condition including Iodine deficiency, build up of toxins in the body or it can even be from an attack on the Thyroid gland by your own immune system as in Hashimoto’s disease.

When diagnosed with Hypothyroidism your doctor will probably prescribe you Thyroxine (T4) which is a synthetic version of a Thyroid hormone. For many this works well and alleviates symptoms quickly but for others it can produce side effects and prolong the suffering.

Fortunately there are some very good alternatives for treating this condition such as natural Thyroid hormones and naturopathic medicine. Natural Thyroid hormones are derived from Pigs’ Thyroid glands and naturally contain all the Thyroid hormones which is why we see great results from these types of products. Naturopathic medicine approaches things in a different way and aims to heal the root cause of the Hypothyroidism where internal healing can sometimes return the Thyroid gland to its fully functional state. There are many underactive Thyroid treatments available which get great results but must only be done with the guidance of a qualified professional.

How to live with with an underactive thyroid

The medical term for an underactive thyroid is hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is when the thyroid doesn’t supply enough of the hormone thyroxine. The chance of an underactive thyroid problem increases with age; approximately 1 in 6 adults over 60 have an underactive thyroid

Familiar symptoms related with an underactive thyroid include the following:

Low energy

Weight gain

Increased flow during menstruation

Dry skin and hair

Mood swings

Constipation

Sadness

This is just a picture of some of the many symptoms that could be a clue to an underactive thyroid.

There are various more and if left undiagnosed and untreated, there could be some major implications. Untreated underactive thyroid can possibly cause a vital condition called myxedema coma. This would only occur should thyroid hormones reach a very low level when very low blood pressure and very low blood sugar could possibly trigger loss of consciousness.

An underactive thyroid could lead to heart problems, speech problems, infertility or miscarriage and even potential birth defects. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms leading you to suspect you have a thyroid disorder, all that is needed is a trip to the doctor who will undertake a blood test to decide if any thyroxine hormone replacement is required.

Approximately two thirds of everyone who has a thyroid disorder has the underactive thyroid disorder (hypothyroidism), rather than the overactive thyroid disorder (hyperthyroidism).

There is no treatment that can make the thyroid produce the hormone thyroxine again.

Consequently, the treatment consists of prescriptions to substitute the hormone that is no longer being produced. As this is the case, sufferers of an underactive thyroid would be required to take pills for the rest of their life to maintain the correct amount of thyroxine required for full health. A small price to pay for being returned to good health.

Regular testing for any thyroid disorder is essential for aging adults as the symptoms that are present could also be put down as ‘old age’, such as constipation, dry skin and aching muscles. When in it is an underactive thyroid that is causing the problems.

Having an underactive thyroid, although inconvenient because of having to take prescription daily, is not a disability. Once diagnosed and treatment has begun, any objectionable symptoms will soon subside.

Marcus started to write about thyroid disorders to understand more about his wife’s underactive thyroid. At www.underactivethyroids.com they have developed a short ecourse that exposes many of the myths that fellow thyroid sufferers have been forced to listen to for many years.

A Natural Remedy for Underactive Thyroid

A Natural Remedy for Underactive Thyroid

A thyroid that produces fewer hormones than necessary can cause many problems which may be alleviated by a natural remedy.  If the thyroid produces an inadequate amount of hormones this can cause symptoms that might not initially be associated with hypothyroidism.  The common indicators of hormonal imbalance can include, but certainly are not limited to, weight gain, lack of sleep, feeling tired and sluggish and reduced alertness. Yet, for some, these symptoms of hypothyroidism may be relieved by a natural therapy.

If the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones, the body becomes unable to carry out vital functions. The thyroid gland produces a stimulating hormone (THS) which maintains the functionality and metabolic balance of many of the body’s organs.  This hormone determines how fast or slow the organs operate, as well as how efficiently they function. Hypothyroidism occurs when hormones are not produced by the thyroid causing energy levels to decrease throughout the body. All of these effects are due to a hormonal imbalance, but can be detected by getting your thyroid hormone levels checked on a regular basis. These problems may be improved and even prevented with the use of specific herbs or a natural therapy for underactive thyroid.

To improve thyroid health, particularly using a natural remedy for underactive thyroid, there are many “best practices” aimed at increasing your hormonal level. Some people react very positively to a particular natural therapy and not to others; as with almost everything each person’s sensitivity to a particular food, supplement, medication, etc. varies by gender, age, race, life-style, experience (exposure to external influences, extreme cases such as asbestos exposure), allergic susceptibility, heredity, along with others.

One natural therapy for underactive thyroid is Coconut Oil, which is used most to help lose weight that is put on when experiencing thyroid troubles.  Coconut oil is used for hypothyroidism, giving people the energy needed to lose weight and maintain a more active lifestyle.  A diet including 3-5 tablespoons of coconut oil daily may make a dramatic difference in an underactive thyroid patient’s weight, mood, hormonal balance, and energy. Granted, there must be some effort put in to lose the weight, but the coconut oil diet can improve your health in a safe and effective way while suffering with hypothyroidism.  By taking 3-5 tablespoons a day, over time you will regain the normal functions of a body with a healthy thyroid.

Additionally, one contributor to a thyroid producing insufficient hormone levels may be an unhealthy diet and improper eating habits.  A lack of energy is one result from having an underactive thyroid gland.  A lack of energy can cause a person not to exercise enough. Insufficient exercise along with an unhealthy diet may lead to weight gain.  This is a self-reinforcing cycle that may be broken by addressing the underlying cause – hypothyroidism. A simple foundation of good thyroid health is a supportive and preventative diet.

Coconut oil is a medium-chain fatty acid which increases metabolism and adds energy to your body which is necessary for the successful loss of weight. For people with a low thyroid gland function, this natural remedy for hypothyroidism is one key to regaining proper body functioning. Physical activity is another key. Sustaining sufficient hormonal levels and a balanced metabolism is crucial to one’s well being, especially when experiencing symptoms of underactive thyroid. With thyroid gland issues, many different afflictions may occur as a result.  Although the coconut oil diet does not cover all of these afflictions or symptoms, it may alleviate some very significant issues caused by hypothyroidism.

There are many effective, natural ways to increase your thyroid gland activity. A healthy coconut oil diet can support the thyroid and giving you the energy needed to lead a more active lifestyle.

Coconut Oil – one natural therapy for underactive thyroid problems. Always check with your health care professional if you suspect you have hypothyroidism.

Underactive Thyroid Gland

Underactive thyroid gland simply means that the thyroid gland is working less than what is required by the body. Thyroid gland is an important gland of the body that is located somewhere middle of the front side of the neck just nearer to voice-box and Adam’s apple. The gland secrets some hormones (known as thyroid hormones), that play active role in the metabolism of the body. Metabolism is nothing but the process by which, the body turns the food particles absorbable form.

Underactive thyroid is medically known as hypothyroidism wherein the thyroid gland produces little hormones than the body requires. In case, when the thyroid gland acts more than required and produces more hormones, it is known as hyperthyroidism and when the gland functions well with no hyper or hypo states, it is labeled as Euthyroid.

Underactive or hypothyroidism is common in adults but rarer in babies. According to statistics, one in every 4000 babies born with congenital hypothyroidism and that result into delayed milestones of the baby. Hypothyroidism affects women more often than men at about 7:1 in ratio and those people who have underactive thyroid are at a greater risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune dysfunctions etc.

The causes of underactive thyroid include Hashimoto thyroiditis, Lymphocytic Thyroiditis after hyperthyroidism. Certain radioactive surgery or iodine can also slow down the thyroid process and cause hypothyroidism. Excessive iodine deficiency is also a common cause for hypothyroidism.

The symptoms include sluggishness, unspecified weight gain, lethargy, decreased touch sensation, paleness and/or puffiness of the face especially surrounding eyes etc. Depression, dry and/or coarse hair, excessive sleepiness, fatigue, vague aches and pains are also common symptoms for hypothyroidism. There could be swelling of the legs, decreased ability to concentrate on subject, intolerance to the cold environment are not uncommon in patients with hypothyroidism. The pulse/heart rate may come down along with the drop in body temperature and hence, the patients with hypothyroidism are cool to touch.

Diagnosing the disease depends upon the severity of the symptoms and local and/or general body examination. However, TFT (Thyroid Function Test) in which, hormonal levels T3 and T4 is tested, confirms the disease and then according to the levels of thyroid hormone in the body, the treatment is decided.

Fortunately, the thyroid hormone that the body lacks in the condition of hypothyroidism can be supplied from outside. Thyroid hormone supplements are available in the form of pills and they are to be taken without failure to avoid further complications. There are some alternative therapies too, that help healing the thyroid problems. Acupressure, acupuncture, Ayurveda and Homeopathy has many therapies and drugs that work on thyroid gland and stimulate it to produce enough hormones. Latest researches support that practicing some holy exercises such as Yoga and Pranayama has dramatically improved underactive thyroid gland i.e. hypothyroidism and has also helped relieving symptoms that are caused due to hypothyroidism.

What You Need to Know About Underactive Thyroids

One prominent thyroid problem that most people take for granted is underactive thyroids, also called hypothyroidism. You get underactive thyroid symptoms because of a decrease in the production of your thyroid hormones. It is usually the thyroid that produces the hormones but sometimes problems with the pituitary gland also causes the problem. If left untreated, underactive thyroid symptoms can become fatal. What happens is that your body, instead of speeding up and overheating, it usually slows down in several ways whenever you experience underactive thyroid problems. You can watch out for some prominent underactive thyroid symptoms such as the following:

sluggishness fatigue depression greater sensitivity to cold unexplained weight gain dry hair and skin constipation menstrual irregularities

If you have encountered these problems in a regular basis, then you might want to have yourself checked. Similar to an overproductive thyroid hormone, underactive thyroid symptoms also pose a risk to pregnant women. This is because during the first trimester, your baby will rely on all of the thyroid hormones that you supply to it so if you have underactive thyroids then you may have insufficient thyroid hormones to give to your child. To avoid this, it would be best if you get yourself tested especially if you have a history of thyroid problems in your family.

Underactive Thyroid Symptoms: Myxedema

Myxedema is a very dangerous underactive thyroid symptom. It happens when the thyroid hormones in your body drops to very low levels, which can be fatal. People who suffer from myxedema are prone to suffering from infections and can have serious reactions to injuries, medications, and even become really sensitive to the cold temperature. Sometimes, people who suffer from this problem also slip into a coma and hypothermia could occur, dropping the body’s temperature level at a fatal low.

If you are suffering from any of these underactive thyroid symptoms then it is best to have yourself checked as soon as possible so you can obtain treatment right before the problem gets worse. Getting help as soon as possible could prevent the problem from worsening and could help avoid other serious outcomes.
